Our Space Launches

Every Diatom watch embarks on its very own journey into space aboard a bespoke launch platform equipped with space-capable camera systems and is delivered to its new owner with ultra high-definition footage of its stunning offworld voyage.

Astronautical Engineering

The watches are carefully mounted inside a custom-built carbon-fibre craft boasting a wealth of power systems, telemetry equipment and imaging arrays, along with a bespoke flight computer that communicates with Diatom HQ and coordinates the numerous individual subsystems.

Reaching Space

A lighter-than-air propulsion system then transports the craft to altitudes exceeding 120,000 feet, with the integrated camera arrays capturing stunning vistas of the timepieces floating against the blackness of space, the curvature of the Earth and the thin blue line of our home planet’s atmosphere.

Returning Home

The craft is then remotely detached from the propulsion system via satellite uplink to begin a controlled descent back to Earth. Upon touchdown, the flight computer broadcasts the craft’s exact landing location back to Diatom HQ, facilitating swift retrieval of the watches before they enter post-flight quality control.
